Although ostensibly street cars, the original 69 COPO Camaro models for 1969, with the ZL-1 engine, were thinly disguised race cars. Chevrolet dropped the pretense in 2012, when it relaunched the COPO Camaro as a dedicated, strictly-for-the-strip race car. Built from “body in white” shells, Chevy has produced only 69 a year for the past decade. The example offered here is an essentially brand-new 2020 Chevrolet COPO Camaro with the available 580-horsepower 427CI engine—the top naturally aspirated engine option for the model. According to its original owner, It has only been driven from the delivery transporter to its current climate-controlled storage facility and "around the block" to maintain the car only a few times. There have been no passes on the strip with it and no gratuitous burnouts, no matter how tempting it has been. And to be clear, this factory-fresh COPO Camaro is an off-highway vehicle only. There is no VIN and it cannot be registered for street use.
